has good chance to be used in theater or movie productions back in old days.

Yeah, it's a 1903 training rifle.....Some were more elaborate than others....Yours has original '03 parts integrated into it's manufacture.....I'm thinking yours may be WW1 vintage, as the WW2 USN Parris Dunn versions were of lower quality....The hanguard is missing but I'm thinking an original '03 guard may work.....Bodes

Sure does appear to be a copy of a US M1903....

US 1903 Springfield training rifle....You can tell it's a trainer by the cast bolt handle and screw through the barrel....These were typical with the Parris-Dunn Mk1 training rifles.....Bodes

They were intended for training in the handling of a firing arm and not for shooting purposes...A bayonet could be added which added realism to the training w/o the danger of accidental discharge....These were also used as parade rifles and there is even one shown in the movie "Caine Mutiny" with Humphrey Bogart....So, they also ended for use as movie props....Bodes

Hey, G need to remember the 1903 was a licensed copy or the 98 rifle. So it looks very similar . The straight wrist stock and rear site was all I needed.

A drill rifle for parts. Value 30-40 usd
