Leather P08 Luger Lanyard For Information Please

I have this leather lanyard which I believe is for a "P08 - Luger". It measures 36 inches long. Could I please have help in determining the following:

1. Is it actually a P08 lanyard ?

2. What vintage would it be WW1 or WW2 ?

3. Who would use a lanyard like this ?

This makes perfect sense.
Almost 40 years ago, I owned a matching (M Block) BYF 42 Luger in the typical Potuguese holster and it came with this same lanyard.
