K98 eagle shield?

I want to know with what this eagle shield is about. I think it's a fake that was added on post war. It is on the underside of the k98 I have.

the emblem looks like Wehrmacht and could be from tropical helmet when real. b.r.Andy

Should I remove the shield?
Btw the gold colour is the actual colour of the shield.

I removed the eagle and this was what was underneath the eagle and how it was attached. Seems like it was put in by nails not just attached on by some glue
