So, what is the definition of "in the white"? Does this mean that the pistol doesn't have a factory finish?

          Pp

Referring to Rankins book on pp and ppk, page 34,
In the white- pistol had never had been blued, white metal is still visible. Sometimes only parts are in the white, some parts can be blued.
Just a short composite of what is mentioned on finishes of these pistols usually found.

Your PP is not in the white. It's just the lighting. Your pistol is blues just how it should be

I agree this is not in the white but the correct late war thin military finish.

A great grouping. Very nice find!

The others are correct. Your PP, is a nice late war "AC" marked pistol, with typical late war bluing. It's 100% correct.

FYI- the term, "in the white" refers to a pistol or piece (like a hammer), that has received no bluing or factory finish applied to it. It's just plain polished steel, so it has the appearance of being silver, or "white." You'll see this most often on late war items, such as P38 hammers, triggers, magazines......)

                  Hope this helps,
                  Matt
