MP38/40 leather sling

Hi guys,

Bought recently a leather sling for a mp38/40. I saw that the buckle was marked "D&C". On the inside, the leather sling is marked "CGU 42" (Stolla Wien). What I dont understand is that the bucklemarking seems to be for a K98? Although it has the typical 2 holes in the leather for a mp38/40. Havent measured the sling yet.

The sling is a nice original, but I am not sure about the marking cgu 42

Thanks for your opinions. Had also contact with Bergflak. This was his answer:

From what I can see the sling is probably correct (WW2), but the marking is clearly bogus. It was added recently, as can be seen by the impression. I can't see the reverse of the sling opposite the marking, but I guess you will be able to see the marking silhuet on the wrong side.

I took a look at the reverse opposite to the marking, but I cant see a silhouet.

Who sold you this? It is kind of a sin to add a fake marking to an original item. Like with those fake SS stamps.

It's indeed a sin. Had contact with seller. Said he pulled it off an MP40 atticfind. Found it together with a Stengun.
