Value of a few german weapons

    Hi,

Please could someone give me the UK and the US values of the following weapons, as I am not a firearms collector I have very little knowledge in this field, also are there any reproductions of any of these?

    The weapons are,

    MG34
    MG42
    MP40
    MP44
    K98

    Thanks

    Rick

Prices differ from country to country and if it still can shoot or not.
So it is difficult to give price ranges; because the same weapon can cost the double in another country.

      Hello Rick,
The value of those weapons will vary tremendously between Europe and the US because the defend law.
In Belgium you will be able to buy a MG 42 , MG 34, MP 44, MP 40 in mint condition and sometimes in the original crate for les or about $1000 to 1500 a piece if you have the collectors firearm licence and about the same prices for the same weapons but deactivated.
The K98 will go for about $200/300 in firing condition.
I know the UK has different laws than Belgium but they are similar concerning the deactivated weapons.
Lately I bought a Vickers heavy MG in the original crate with the heavy tripod in the crate and all the accessory’s! All in mint condition for about £ 350 in a Britisch auction sale.
As for US prices, I let someone else answer.

        US prices

US prices will vary tremendously on this list of firearms from $100 shooters to over $20,000 for a minty MG34!
If you seriously want a price list then please give much more details!!!!!
The K98 for example can range form $100-$10,000+ depending on maker, year, condition, markings, and scopes!!! I need much more info to give you any accurate prices.

Here is a very vague list of prices in the USA:

        MG34- $900-$22,000
        MG42- $900-$20,000
        MP40-$900- $15,000
        Stg44- $900-$18,000
        K98-$125-$10,000

You can see the range is wide! The lower end prices for the MGs are for dummy guns, or parts kits. The low end for the K98 is for a mis-matched import in poor condition.

          MG-34

          Hi Matt,
What value could you place on this MG-34:
Dealer sample, all matching except feed tray, "DOT 1944" infantry model. About 65% finish and runs like a clock. It has a tripod, optics, gunners kit, tripod slings, gun sling, tripod anit-aircraft adapter rig w/spider sight and extra parts.
A rough number would be great and " Thank You ".

            Dealer sample!

            Robert,

Although you gun sounds great and I'm sure it is! What really kills the price on this one is those first two nasty words that you used to describe it....."DEALER SAMPLE!!"

This gun cannot be sold to a collector or transfered to a private individual. It can only be sold to a class 3 dealer. Since the Class 3 dealer who is buying can't sell it for a profit, the value really is low on these.

Without seeing the gun and based on what you have said about it, I would say this one is worth about $2,000-$3,000 for the gun. The extra parts you have will be worth quite a bit as well (probably as much as the gun!!)
Overall, this entire set would go for $4,000-$5,000 I would say.
The tripods and optics are worth a lot! Slings, barrels, and gunner kits aren't worth as much. the spider sight is worth a little bit too!

If it was a transferable gun then it would be more like $15,000-$16,000!!!

            Matt

              Thanks all for the input,

Say all the weapons were between 1938-45 dated and they were de-ac but still had moving parts, and all were in good condition i.e. war time used and by german makers.

              What would the value be?

              Regards

              Rick

If they are all de-activated (dummy guns!) then take the low end of the prices listed above.

                  Prices in Belgium are lower for a dewat. I paid for a MG34: $650, MP44: $600, MP40: $300, Kar98/k: $200, M712 Mauser: $650. I bought them from a privat collector. Prices would be a little higher when buying it from a dealer.

                    Uk prices.

                    Hello Rick,
as a guide to prices for working action "Deacts" in the UK these are the prices that i tend to encounter.
                    K98. £225-245
                    MG34. £395-450.
                    MG42. £450-550.

MP40/44....this is a little bit more difficult, as the prices seem to be spiralling out of control. The last MP44 i saw for sale was at the "War and Peace" show at Beltring in Kent, and that sold for £1300 (if i remember correctly), with MP40's fetching at least as much now...
Basically budget from £1100-1500, depending on dealer, condition, and location.
                    Depressing isn't it.

Marc, if i may ask a quick question, did you experience any problems with customs (from either side of the English channel)?
I recently on a Belgian dealers site, saw deactivated weapons for sale to European Union customers ( of which the UK is part), so i'm trying to find out if it would be legally possible for me to buy from Belgium, and ship over to here..without being jailed for gun running

                    All the best,
                    Patrick.

                      Hello Patrick,

I never took guns to England; I did bought deactivated guns in England and took them over to Belgium with the car. Those guns had all the legal documents from Birmingham for the deactivation. I don’t know if the other way around is OK but it should be because the Belgium deactivation law is stronger than in the UK. I would call customs to know for sure. We are talking about deactivated weapons here and nothing is wrong with that, a few questions should not harm you.

Do you have the details of the Belgian dealer at all please?

                              German Weapons values

                              Hi all,

I would caution any UK & USA buyers of weapons from the continent of EUROPE. There is a big difference in the way Firearms are deactivated in England versus the rest of EUROPE. The UK (Birmingham) really cuts and welds receivers (makes you want to cry) versus EUROPE (continent) where the parts kits have only the barrel (drilled, welded) and the bolt is cut as well but the receivers are intact. In the USA the receivers are cut in three pieces and you may or may not get all three pieces in the parts kits. I'm sure there are variations on bans/restirictions or laws so beware! Check out those laws before you buy because most parts kits in EUROPE would definitely be illegal in the UK and also require a class 3 license in the USA. Bill Petz
