    M1 Garand for Review

I was offered this M1 Garand. One friend has already given me his opinion, but wanted to confirm some of the issues here. Any input would be appreciated.

I have a very basic knowledge of these, as I own one. To me, it looks like the stock has been heavily sanded, or may be a repo stock. There is not enough wood around the back of the receiver, where the serial number is. This is usually lost with heavy sanding, as well as the stamp. So, a stock that's been heavily sanded, I would not expect to see such a deep stamp. There are stamps widely available for restamping a stock, just an FYI.

It's a nice looking rifle. It all depends on the price.

Really not enough information to tell everything about it. Bolt number appears correct for that serial number range, and correct lock bar type sight. Barrel should be around 3-44, and op rod a 9 SA. Finish does not look original, so may be a restoration.
