mg34 marking

I've seen this nice mg34 and I wonder if the new serial number on the top cover could be period done or is it a recent addition?
And the 963 maker (Grofuss) with eagle 4 waffenamt is compatible with a bfd mg?

The top cover 963 WaA4 and the MG dfb 41 with WaA4 is compatible as top covers are usually subcontracted and both have the same WaA4. Now, the remarking of the serial number on the top cover...could be period and could also be post war but doesn't sound as RC.
