Help with information on this little .32 Auto

A friend of mine just got this in a trade from a guy who said it was his grandfathers bring back from Europe.....supposedly taken from a German officer or NCO. The pistol is not in the best shape, but I know nothing about it and he asked me for help. One thing that I cannot figure out is the handles and the roundel in it.....almost appears that it is a Russian Imperial eagle or maybe Spanish? Not sure.....can anyone tell me about this please?

Last ones.....as you can see the numbers on the slide and bottom do match, but have not bothered to take it apart to see if internals match as well......also shown in this last picture is a unique feature on the top of the slide.....thanks for your help and information in advance! Also has a 2nd pattern Luft. dagger he will be getting from the deal as well. Pictures for authenticity of that when it arrives will be posted in the blades forum.

On internet sources looks like a spanish copy of a pistol.
"The Arizmendi Walman is a Spanish pistol that was produced in spain, primarily for the U.S. market, and early production models were marked "American Automatic Pistol Walman Patent" although the word "American" was later dropped. The pistols were available in either 6.35mm or 7.65mm. "b.r.Andy
