    "V3" at Mimoyeques,

    Hi,
Having watched the appalling TV programme "Building Hitler's Supergun" is there a definitive work of reference on this weapon?
Particularly, where was the oft-repeated photo of the prototype on a slope taken and just how advanced was the work inside the Mimoyeques complex before the 617 Squadron "Tallboy" raid?
Methinks that the gun was not rendered useless "in the nick of time" as the programme would have us believe!
I look forward to more info.
    Thanks,
    Grossfuss

I'd start with the Wikipedia.de entry Vergeltungswaffe 3 and its bilbiography, esp. Porezag's book.

I don't think they ever perfected the multiple firing chambers - they never got the timing right. I think saying "nick of time" is stretching the truth a little.

That's the essence of Porezag's account - they had three successive chamber failures before the raid and never got improved chambers installed.
