    Today's Ammunition Find

This was my haul today. Four complete correct boxes. And about 30 loose rounds. Including some 33 dated ones which had so far eluded me.
One cartridge at the end I have a question about.
Seems to be a sme, but the bullet is odd. Flat grey colour. Does not look like a shiny one that dulled, looks different but I could be wrong. Anyone know?

What you have is a normal zink plated bullet.
You find these in many different colors from very light grey to very dark grey.

No Bob. I don't have Kents. I have the brand new one from Germany. It's in colour and a great book.

Thanks! Difficult to find in Canada for sure. I've gotta go back for more.

What is the new book? Kent's has been my Bible for a long time.

Interesting zinc washed SmE round. Would love to find a box of them.

                This one.

Available here. I've looked through Kents book. And while good, a bit dated and with German 7,9mm colour helps a lot!

An appropriate box for the shown cartridge.

Thanks! There are several interesting books available on that site.

Yeah. Reading with an English supplement was only a bit of a hassle. Only read the book once then just used it as reference. So not too bad. And yeah there are other books I'd like from them as well.

Thanks for posting that box! Very neat! They are identical. Only a few lots later.

Nice little MG belt section comprised of Gurt 17 links (set up in disintegrating configuration). This belt would have been used in either an MG17 or an MG81 setup in aircraft.

Here is an MG17 setup as used in fighter aircraft (not my photo; something in the public domain via internet).

Oops! I just realized that the Gurt17 belt section I referenced is not part of the items being discussed in this thread (the Gurt 17 belt is on the cover of the new German-language book on 7.92 ammunition). I apologize for creating any confusion.
