    P39(t) holster incorrectly marked "P38"?

This is one from my collection. It looks like a standard P38 holster, but upon closer inspection, I now believe this is actually a P39(t) holster. The spare mag pouch on the holster has an extra leather strip sewn in, and does not fit a P38 magazine. I have previously had a P39(t) holster with this same attribute. However, that holster was not embossed "P38" on the back, but instead had a ink stamped "P39(t)" mark on the inside flap of the holster... has anyone had one like this?

What is the date on the holster? Can't make it out.

The date appears to be 1940, I can't make out the maker but it looks like "Berlin" on the bottom of the stamp.

I suspect the maker is "Genschow & Co. AG".

IMO a nice P.38 holster by Geco.
The leather insert seen on P.39(t) holsters is different i think.
I can't really see on the photo but is the leather insert a seperate piece of leather or part of the holster?

Thanks Leon, I think you are correct. From the letters I can make out it appears to be this maker.

Hi Kris, previously I owned a P39(t) holster properly marked, and the leather insert looked just like this one. I will attach some pictures to compare to my other P.38 holster. My other holster has just two layers of leather, and the one I suspect is a P39(t) has three layers and it will not fit a P38 magazine.

First up is my other P38 holster.

Here are pictures of the holster that started this thread. This one has a total of three layers of leather and will not fit the P.38 magazine.

Very interesting. It definitely has the extra piece added to the mag pouch.
Can you take pics of the inside of the flap and inside of the holster body, so we can see the wear markings. This will tell us if it held a P38 or not?

                            Hey Matt,

I took some pictures and looked at the holsters closely. I'm now fairly certain this is for a P39(t) pistol (or some other pistol??). When I took out my P38, I realized it doesn't even fit inside the holster! Because of the location of where the inside leather strap is sewn, compared to my P38 holster. See the pictures, I think you will agree.

                            Cheers,
                            Rylan

The holster I suspect is for P39(t) is on the top, and my P38 holster to compare, on the bottom...
