Thompson M1A1 date of Manufacture ?

Hi guys,

I've had this old spec Deact. Auto-Ordnance Corporation M1A1 for many years, I have always wondered when it was made. I have searched the web numerous times without success. Anyone here able to help. The serial number is 848945.

Hi Les,

I believe your Savage M1A1 was probably made in 1943.

No records have been found that show serial numbers and the year of manufacture for 1928 (A1) or the M1(A1) Thompson Machine Guns made by Savage or A.O.C.B during WW2.

G-16 27/01/43 200,000 M1A1 only

G-17 23/06/43 49.800 M1A1

G-18 03/08/1943 15,000 M1A1

G-19 13/08/43 100,000 M1A1
