Picked up this one. The makers marking is only found inside, it has no WaA or "P08" stampings. Was this holster from a special lot, or is it juts "early" WH.

So...not commercial then.
Eger & Linde manufactured holsters with the markings on the inside for the Luftwaffe contract (the "Krieghoff holsters"), but they sported a LW/2 acceptance mark. Some holsters only have the LW/2. Eger & Linde also manufactured holsters for the Polizei, but marked on the rear. This is what I have managed to gather up of information. So no conclusion, but I know what I like to believe
Still an interesting variety!

Is it really correct to call this a "Krieghoff" holster? After all, I think we all agree that the holster was not manufactured by the H. Krieghoff firm. Plus, the LW used a LOT more P.08's than just the 10,000 or so that Krieghoff supplied to the LW spread out over an 8 year or so period.
I get it: the holster was accepted by an inspector working under the same LW #2 inspection group as were the inspectors accepting MG15's, MG-81's, FG-42's, flare pistols, P.08 etc. produced by H. Krieghoff during the course of WWII. So, my question is how does the presence of the L2 mark on the holster link the holster to the H. Krieghoff firm?

For starters have you or anyone else ever seen a LEGITIMATE E2 marking on something not HK related ? I have not .
No HK did not make this holster - H EGER & LINDE did .
Is calling this a " KRIEGHOFF " holster any different than calling an EM proofed holster a " NAVY " holster ?
Also remember the HK " contract " guns are mostly from 36-37 and Mauser did indeed supply Lugers to the LW but without any E2 markings on guns or holsters . E655 or E135 on guns and WaA--- on holsters . Well you need to throw in the WwSu 1940 E/Su19 ones also . I have one of those .
