Now I have placed it next to a German WWII dummy round!

On the right is a German Functional Dummy Round..Training round (NOT A BLANK) for showing how to opperate the weapon... BILL

Is my assumption that one on the left is a WWI trng. round correct? I do have some WWI German Machine gun 8mm ammo somewhere and I think it was marked much like the dummy example.

Hi Bill,

Doesn't the label on the sleeve of 8mm ammo that you have pictured indicate aluminum core tracer instead of armor piercing tracer? The l.S indicating light pointed bullet? The rounds should have a green stripe across the cartridge base. You also referred to Gl'spur. Isn't that dim tracer (glimmspur)? Please correct me if I'm wrong!
