    Matt, I concur that it probably is a genuine holster imported at some time in the past. I can't deny the claim of import in the 1950s, but it seems that importing any leather at that time was a waste of money. Those were the days of Ye Olde Hunter and such, and guns were imported in the 50s. If holsters came in it was because they were with the guns. But in the 50s, no one cared about PPs or PPKs, much less the markings thereon. The only "reference" at that time was Datig, with Jones' book on the horizon. Lugers were the only guns of note.

    I feel the holsters came in within the past 10-15 years. Maybe twenty. But the markings were added after that time in my opinion.

      For what it's worth, I have to agree with Joe's comments on this holster. IMHO if it is in fact, an original holster with post-war stamps and markings, it is now just a beautiful PP holster that has been ruined by some jerk trying to make an unethical buck. Many collectors opinions may differ from mine but I feel something is either original or it ain't! Kinda like being almost a virgin.
      I seriously doubt the markings would have been added in the 50's. Back then a holster was something thrown in as a "deal-maker" when the buyer and seller were $2 - $3 apart. At that time, I doubt if there were even 100 collectors in the U.S. that were aware that an SA holster existed. I certainly wasn't!
      I sincerely hope my comments are not taken harshly. I wish we were talking instead of typing. Sometimes things get misunderstood in typewritten comments. Not meant as a criticism... Thanks for submitting this holster for us. It has been a valuable learning experience.

      p.s. FYI, the SA holster shown in Rankin's Vol. III is the same one shown in the picture I submitted earlier.

        Certainly no offense taken. As I said right from the start of this thread, I purchased this holster as a reproduction. So I certainly didn't pay what normal SA holsters are selling for (such as your lovely looking holster! )
        In fact the price I paid was about half of what a normal Walther PP holster would sell for.

        One other question really puzzles me though. If someone did add the SA marking on this holster to try and mis-lead buyers into thinking it was a correct SA holster, then why wouldn't they have placed it in the proper area, and proper size? It just seems to me, if I were going to make a fake, I would at least try to duplicate known originals, wouldn't you?

        Anyways, I agree with Denny and Joe. I believe it is an original commercial Walther PP holster with markings added post war.

          Matt, you didn't mention if the underside of the flap was marked with "Walther PP". Is it specifically marked for the PP or is it a generic holster?

            One thing that screams at me Matt is the color of the leather. That is classic Czech or Yugo 1960's leather. I had a pair of VZ 61 Skorpions awhile back and the leather was the exact, and I mean exact color, they could have come from the same cow! The thread work was the same as well.
