I picked up a 43 dated M1 Garand S/N 2118457 yesterday at and yard sale here locally..It looks in my opinion untouched and original maybe the stock has been changed..The Cartouche is E*** not sure if that is the correct cartouche....Hope there is someone that knows more then I do will look at it and give me there opinion about the rifle.....

The barrel date falls into the right serial number range, so it's the original one.....The rest of the parts fall under a drawing number and not a serial number....This makes it a little harder to know whether they came from the factory together....My guess with the mis-matched stock, it was put together with random parts after a cleaning....BodesOriginally posted by ALJEFF View PostComment

The small parts fall under the correct drawing number for the serial number range, as does barrel date plus it still has the bright chamber face indicating it was not rebuilt. Agree that the stock should have a GAW acceptance stamp.Comment
