Japanese Arisaka Toyo Kogyo early one?

    Hi Guys,

Anybody have reference info to tell when this Arisaka was made? I far as I've been able to tell, its a 27th Series Toyo Kogyo? Pretty low serial number too. I need to take more pics but the lits a long rifle with dust cover removed as well as the anti-aircraft wings. The front barrel band doesn't seem common and looks like the one below..

That's a Toyo Kogyo so it can't be a 27th series. The 27th series was assigned to Tokyo Juki Kogyo. The series stamp is kind of hard to see in the photo. My guess is that this rifle is from the 35th series which would make it an early 1945 model.

Thanks for the reply. I'll post some better pics of the marking and whole rifle so you can see the workmanship. It seems to be very well done to be '45.

Like you said, I suppose its an early 1945. I thought perhaps they were no longer using these fittings by that date.

From the new pics, I can see it's a type 99 long so it would have been made around 1940. It' still a 35th series but I shouldn't have assumed it was a 99 short.

Thanks Doug. My original lack of photos didn't help.
