    Can we associate this item with machine guns (e.g. MG 34 or 42)?

      Yep, for MG34 (as mentioned) It's a tree claw. Usually Waffenmeister made. Can you post more pics, from all sides?

              You hammer it into a tree and then mount the MG on it and use the tree as a support to shoot from.

                I was going to say:

                To hold or lean against trees when fighting in forest areas.


                I got a couple of pics from a Finnish collector some years ago...It looks pretty much like this one (but not exactly) Sorry for not posting them, as I'd have to ask if I can.
