WWII Era ammo - Market Value?

I have just acquired in a group vintage ammo. Likely 1945-1950 issue.

mostly 306 rounds in the bandoliers or belt. And, .45 see photos. Also Mauser rounds.

    two questions?

Whats the value of this ammo?

Whats the best way to sell & ship ?

Sorry i can't help with your questions...but I'd say those clip rounds look AP, as they seems to have the tips painted black. That might bring a higher price.

I can't help with value but ammo must be shipped by UPS or FedEx ground. The USPS will not take it. Also, you must have an ORM-D label on the box and identify it as "cartridges, small arms".

I think the AP '06 rounds are prohibited in some states now.

Shipping ammo can be a pain.

In shipping old ammo thru UPS . Be Prepared. I have never been thru such a RED TAPE Q&A session like that one. And above all DON'T wrap the box in paper.
I imagine that AP is being outlawed in most States now. Few years back I was able to pick up a Garand bandoleer of WW2 dated API. I didn't even try to sell it where it would have to be shipped. No telling what a hassle that would have been.

I've heard all the hype about AP for a while. I don't doubt that some states prohibit the retail sales of it and I know that many ranges have long prohibited from being fired. On the other hand I have heard or read nothing that it is illegal to own it or shoot it (other than hunting and prohibited ranges of course as mentioned above), but more so I do not see how anyone other than a real expert can look at most types of AP and tell if it is AP!

Iron centered core for example will attract a magnet but is not AP. Steel jacket over lead core will do the same, but is not AP.

Go to a gun show, see what others are asking (this stuff is at all shows) and then sell it. Not worth the shipping hassles IMO.

I had a few en blocs (about 6) of .30-06 that I sold for 60 a few years ago. But I'd seen them sell for about 15-20 on the clips recently.

Thanks guys... Very helpful. I have about 500-750 rounds of it. along with other vintage stuff. I think I'll avoid the mailing of it. don't need that headache.

PS Whats the red tipped? I have a few clips of that too..

Taking ammo to ship to a UPS or FedEx satellite office is not a good idea. I pay the extra and have a driver come by my home and pick up the ammo. I have never had a problem doing it that way.
