The name on the inside of the holster is more than likely a Frenchman who carried the weapon in WW1 or before.. There is a great photo of a German SGT. at Colditz Luftwaffe POW camp, at a desk with one of these pistols and holster on his belt.. I'll try to find the pict. and post it....BILL

this may be a long shot, but do you have anything from the 1950's?
Another interest of mine is the French Indochina conflict, an issue weapon to paratroops from that conflict was the folding stock MAS36-CR39.

I've never seen one outside of a period photo....

I have only seen one for sale. I do not have one but I will post the Rare MAS44 semi-Auto. Which showed up in the French IndoChina conflict in limited numbers. On the CR39 they are beeing faked on a ever growing scale.. Put together from SARCO parts...Will post some French stuff for you tonight... BILL

much appreciated!
Weapon dealers in the UK ( those that sell de-activated firearms) very seldom carry any French items at all. They don't think that the stuff is saleable....
It's sad to hear that they are being faked too.
Looking forward to seeing the MAS44 when time permits.
