    Allied-Axis-Shooters-Association

    Greetings All,

    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

    Here is an idea I had. Is there a shooting association for WWII military collectors? I know of CMP and also some machine-gun shoots. When I reenacted Civil War, I found out more about the North-South-Shooters-Association. Is there such an association for WWII collectors and reenactors?

    Why not have the Allied-Axis-Shooters-Association? Have matches for bolt actions (98ks, Enfields, Springfields, Mosins, etc.). Then there could be matches for sub-machine guns, machine-guns, and pistols. Have matches within country of origin for each firearm, then the top of each group have a match of all arms. Imagine the wealth of knowledge that could be distributed at a match. Getting to see, hold, and watch these firearms in action. Great opportunity to trade and sale I would think too. Also it would be a great educational experience for the public, not just collectors and shooters.

    I love shooting, always have. Working up loads for firearms is a great hobby of mine. Most of all I love to listen to experts who say that some old military guns aren’t all that accurate. Then I think of our M-1 carbines and the load we have (me and dad, the load is actually one of my grand-fathers, and one that I will pass on to my two sons). I would take it at 100yds any day. Mine will group 5 shots under ½ inch at 100yds off bags open sights.

    If there is such an association, let me know. If not could it be started?

    <o></o>

    Thanks, it is just a thought,

    Christopher

    I think they already do in Germany. Also I attend a very small gun club here in Denmark where we concentrate on WWI & WWII rifles only.

    But your idea is good. Especially your comment on how people dismiss the old military rifles as old junk. It's the same with my small gun club. The modern competition shooters think we're crazy. I'd like to see them shoot with our old K98s, Mosins, Enfields etc. on 300meters without all the helping devices they're used to from their "Star Wars" rifles

    I like guns with charisma and history.

      I organize a shoot anually here in Central WI. It's called "Lead Fest". No compitition, just collectors who like to go out and shoot as much lead as possible on one given day! Anyone with a WWII or earlier vintage firearm is welcome! No cost, just the cost to bring as much ammo as you can shoot!

      Also, we usually do some show and tell, BS, and take turns shooting other peoples firearms as well to try them out. For example, I have almost all German WWII firearms, but some of the other guys just have American firearms. It's funny, but I usually seem to have the longest line of people wanting to shoot my stuff, vs. the American stuff!

      I started this back in 1998, and this year will be the 8th annual Lead Fest 2005! Haven't set a date, or location yet for it though!

        Matt,

        Sounds like our range here on the farm when friends come over, "Lead Fest". What I was wondering is there a national foundation? Think one getting started would be a good idea?
