Germany and Japan signed the Anti-Comintern pact in 1936.....At this time Japan was deeply involved fighting in China.....Germany was a world wide supplier of military arms and the Chinese were one of their customers.....After the signage of the pact, Japan asked Germany to discontinue selling weapons to their adversary....They obliged....It's my understanding or belief the Japanese bought the mausers as a gesture of good will.....The contract was for about 17,000 rifle, but I don't believe the order was completely fulfilled....Bodes

So now the question must be asked as to who manufactured the Chang Kai Chek Mausers ? I have never found a Japanese contract Mauser like this, but did score a Chinese version when I wore a younger mans clothes. Is there a guns and ammo magazine or book that carried this Japanese Mauser in an article , if so can you relate Where the info can be found to read up on it? I would also assume if the Chinese manufactured the Chinese version , there may have been royalty paid to the Germans for every rifle manufactured, as in WW1 when the U.S. Paid the Germans 1.00 royalty for every 03 we manufactured on the double locking bolt lug patent the Germans held.Last edited by juoneen; 08-13-2015, 11:05 PM.

"Chiang Kai Shek mausers" were made in country by the Chinese....This is where the above story gets more interesting....Even though the Germans promised not to send military weapons to China, upon a visit to the mauser factory by a Chinese representative, they agreed to sell off their rejected parts.....Bodes
