Dear fellow collector, I just come across a nice Mauser 98k Sniper, but some question are coming to me about the originality. First it is a SWP 45, with High Turret mount, Dialytan bmj scope. No doubt about them, 100% original, base mount, ring and scope ( soldered together ). But the bases mounts are not welded on the receiver ring, that's my second question, are they all silver welded to the receiver? This rifle comes directly from a friend who own it for almost 30 years, so I know he is honest and not a faker, but maybe he didn't even know it too... Does SWP 45 is correct for a Sniper high turret ? Thanks in advance!

Bruenn I never made snipers, its fake.
The rifle itself is for all intents and purposes worth nothing. But the scope/rings look real and if so are probably worth in the $3k range. The bases could be, if they are they're about another $800-1000. Hell, I'd give you $500 for the rear base alone, I've been looking for one for a long time.Last edited by Bigdibbs88; 08-10-2015, 05:37 PM.

I'd pay $2000, and I'm valueing only the scope and the bases in this. The rifle is messed with, but good to use at the shooting range. Someone was stupid enough to mark the front base with a WaA135, he should have gone a bit lower.. and the serial on the front could be overstruck aswell, at least it looks like it could be.
1. Check the front base from front. Is there a "WR"/"RW" stamp visible?
2. Remove the scope from the rifle. Look from the bottom to the rear scope ring. Is there a number visible?
3. When having the scope removed, also check the bottom of the front scope ring. Is there also a WR/RW stamp visible?
