    Relic lafette and mg42

    Hello
Had relic mg42 few years now, nice relic, chromed barrel can be removed.
Purchased relic mg42 lafette that was dug up near german border with closest mayor town being Dresden. Was very corroded and nothing moved, some work and weeks later....

The lafette is the so called Gebirgsjäger model, with telescopic legs.

            Thanks Carles
Didn't know that, Thought they were all the same.
Is this a late war version?

Well, this one seems to be a later version.

Nice display, very thought provoking and impressive.

That must have been some work freeing up -

Nice call on the telescopic legs Carls - I would not have noticed, but, yes, top of rear two.

When studying Archaeological restoration we used Tannic Acid (3%) to avoid further deterioration of rusted items, perhaps you could use some.

                    Thanks carles and pitfighter.
Was found ( as seen by original photo ) folded up collapsed postion and run over in my opinion likely by Russian forces because it bent and twisted one of rear legs is missing. I have only used heat from plumbers blow torch to remove lose rust and free up its moving bits. Might try tannic acid on remaining rear leg as it's still not movable. If only it could talk.
