    interesting .30-06 ammo

For those who haven't been collecting for awhile I thought I would share one of the rarer boxes of ammo around. This was ammo for the Browning M2 .30 cal aircraft machine guns as used in the P-40 series of fighter aircraft. I particularly like the date.

I thought the Curtiss P40 had strictly 50 caliber guns ?. Maybe the ammo was for another type of (naval?) aircraft that had synchronized 30 cal brownings - no ?.
The box label makes me think it's for export - not at all like any US military label type I have ever seen, too commercial. Got any pics of the headstamps of the ammo that belongs with this box ?.

The P-40 also had two Brownings firing through the propeller mounted on either side of the fuselage.

          Heres the headstamp
