    question about a mauser hsc

I just bought a mauser hsc american, it is in as new condtion, but I have a question, since I have never had or operated a hsc before, when I pull the slid back, it locks in the open posistion, but when I remove the mag. and pull the slid back the slide does not go forward, the only way I can get the slid to go forward is to insert the mag, and then it auto. releses the slide. is this normal?

It's good to have at least 2 magazines, so you can insert an empty one to close the action. I've got a German wartime example in .32 and it's a great pistol to shoot!

HSC's are very fun to shoot!
Hardly any kick at all, and fairly accurate too!
My dad's wartime one does the same thing as your one, howelldavis, so it is perfectly normal.
Take her out and have fun with her!

          Mauser HSc

We agree on the shooting qualities of the Mauser Hsc!
But, your alleged quotation of Erwin Rommel is nonsense! Of all the Third Reich Generals and Field Marshalls, Rommel would never have subscribed to this philosophy!
You label yourself "Dunkirchen 1940"...really... Were you there?
I was...as a seven year old with my family.

I will have to change my signature. I had heard that quote in a book somewhere, and I found it interesting, so I used it. I will find another one.
And as for Dunkirk, I started my collection of photos with pictures taken at Dunkirk in the aftermath, and it fascinated me.
            Later!
