    Webly MK IV

A friend of mine has a Webly service pistol and I would like to track down more details as to its background.

It is a Webly 455/476 with the number serial ## 84629.

Can any of you gun-heads shead any light on this one?

Standard British service revolver of WW1 and WW2.. Many were given to the RCMP... It is so big that when you run out of the .455 cal. Webley Man stopper ctg. You could use it as a club..Flawless operating side arm, and fun to shoot... BILL

.455 webleys not converted to 45acp are darn scarce - especially if matching and original finish !.What Mark is it ?....for example a MkV webley circa 1915 is exceedingly scarce. In the US these genrally start at $350 and go way on up depending on condition and if there is no post issue mods to them.
I had a Mk1 birdshead grip with 1910 holster I used to shoot by taking old paper .410 shotshells and cutting them down to just ahead of the powder wad. Then I taped a .440 round ball on each one and loaded and fired them like regular ammo.Surprisingly it was decently accurate and packed a good punch. I used to be able to get MkII 265 grain lead practice ammo in the original brit 12 round packets and ocassionally some relaodable Dominian ( canada) wartime ammo. I would love to have a MkV or MkV1 webley again in original trim - but they are tough to find for affordable money !.
