Nazi marked steyr 1919 9mm luger

    Hello all,

Can anyone please tell me if this looks correct? These are the only photos I have to go off of and would $800 sound about right?

thank you, you've saved me a big headache! Firearms are not my thing and I'm glad I asked.

these were re-finished by the germans and the eagle/L and the 08
marking looks more crisp than the rest. The photos and lighting
really suck to judge this pistol.

At 800.00 its no deal to chase.

yes the germans refinished them, but look at the "steyr 1919" rollmark....it looks like its been buffed almost completely off. I agree though the photos make it tough to tell.

A1K- heres what it should look like http://luger.gunboards.com/uploaded/...teyrHahnEL.jpg

the other thing I just thought of is the eagle/L and 08 markings could be fake as well on e refinished pistol.

Here is the best rule to follow. Stick with German medals exclusively or German insignias....only purchase guns first hand from vets only or their family members, if they are untouched , in good shape, and cheap....that way you can't lose ....also if unregistered they bring a premium on resale day....I know you don't keep much stuff and are using the hobby to raise funds, but some day much of what you have turned will haunt you for what bargains you gave away just for the buck.

Beware though of reselling pistols ....pistols should always be kept , as there are laws in most states as to how many transactions can be done by an individual in a year and not have to get a gun dealers license, and to put it mildly, the reason you don't want to resell handguns is they can come back to haunt you if used in crimes....you also never know who is a felon, and rifles and hand guns are different horses in the eyes of the law....if you find good pistols just keep them....that way you'll never get in trouble and lose your collection because you just wanted to make a buck....stick to reselling medals ....you'll thank me for the good advice and to those who may not like this advice....it may be some of those folks that would be in the catagory that I am referring to ....and of course they will want you to sell them the pistols....as sometimes felons do that to bust you, and get out of doing serious time especially at shows...I have witnessed set ups at shows involving felons instructed to try and purchase pistols at shows from dealers who normally may not even mess with handguns... before first hand....don't be complacent on this issue ....you may later regret not taking this advice ....but you can lead a horse to water......(you know the rest). If you don't you can lose you right to own a handgun as a result....if you don't want to keep the handguns , don't buy them in the first place and also get a safe if you do...

There are way more fake medals than guns IMO. A much more dangerous field. Guns are no mystery if you specialize in them like I do... And there are plenty of good ones to be had (on the Internet or otherwise). To me just the opposite is true....medals/cloth insignia mystify me. You also have nothing to worry about with felons if you simply sell to people with 01/03 FFL's (which most collectors have) or simply sell to the person through a dealer (who is required to background check the seller). It's that simple.

I have to agree with Bigbibbs.. to me weapons are far easier than metals and cloth ect.. If you want to play with guns and live in the Usa less NJ get a c&r ffl it's the best $$ you wil ever spend. Then you are totally legal.

Some guys have certain areas mastered for the most part so we all think that part is easy.. Adding fake stamps to a gun is easier to detect than a fake badge or cap. Too me at least..

                        +1

FFL .03 + COE (in CA) for rifles, pistols go through an FFL 01 - I have absolutely none of the concerns listed by Juoneen - the rules are simple, and not difficult to follow.

FFL .03 is $40 or so, if you can't afford that, I have nothing you would be in the market for.

WW2 firearms and parts are no different to medals, helmets or uniforms - do your homework, and study up. If it looks too good to be true, move cautiously.

The Steyr has been refinished and $800 is no bargain for that model -
