7.92 x33 STG ammo on stripper clips and boxed

I found a couple boxes of this at a gun/ammo auction. I'm wondering why it was repackaged?

The stripper clips appear to be zinc coated steel and the rounds lacquered steel....I would say relabeled for importation into this country.....Bodes

I don't believe they were repackaged, as they are dated 1944......The 1950 on the label likely indicates when these were imported into the US....Bodes

                  Thanks

Thanks, Bodes, how do you think people will want to buy these? By the box, stripper clip, individual round?

To a collector, just the way they are is the most desirable....Bodes

Headstamp and strippers are wartime manufacture
(They are mixed factories so very likely repackaged post-war, although it supposedly happened during the war, too.)

hla = Metallwarenfabrik Treuenbritzen G.m.b.H., Werk Sebaldushof, Germany
aux = Polte, Werk Magdeburg, Poltestr. u. Fichtestr.,Magdeburg, Germany:

The box is original wartime - the sticker is later, obviously.

Leave them as they are - for collectors -

hla headstamps in this batch range are not rare, and without the original box stickers it's not overly desirable, I have quite a few of these types of box, usually about $40 or so a box - I wouldn't shoot 1944 issue steel cased ammo in an MP44.
But, to a starter collector - it's a curiosity box and the ammo is wartime.

Much the same price as the Czech repackaged WW2 Kurz.

                        headstamps for hla:
                        hla - 7,9 1 - 2 - 3 43 (rare)
                        hla - St 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 9 43 (rare)
                        hla - St 1 thru 15 - 15+ 16 - 17 44 (common)
                        hla - -St 18-19-20-21 44 (common)
                        hla - -St 1 - 2 -3 - 4 - 5 45 (far less common)
                        hla - S* 1 45 (Very rare)

Roughly stated - the above is obviously a quick diagram.

Aux - Polte - was the original manufacturer of the 7.92x33 round, and they are the most prolific manufacturer - with more variations of headstamp than the other 8 wartime manufacturers - some of their rounds are rare (41-43), of course, the early ones especially - but the later, are the more common (44-45):

9 factory codes for 8mm Kurz:
ak, aux, de, dou, fva, hla, kam, oxo, wa.

Someone here asked about other weapons in 8mm Kurz.
There were several last-ditch rifles manufactured in 8mm Kurz.
                        The Rochling Semo-automatic carbine.
                        The Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr (VG series)
                        The Rheinmetall VG45
There were reportedly but not photographed at least two FG42 manufactured in 8mm Kurz.
                        And of course the mkb42 (h) - mkb42 (w) - MP43, MP44, STG44, Stg45.

Probably more names from the aficionados here.

Pit; was wonder when you would show up. Was going to suggest he contact you. On the list of other weapons using the 7.92x33 you missed the MP43/1. But I forgive you....CHB

I defer to you, sir. You are correct of course.

                              S42 -
If you were so inclined, that batch of headstamps is a nice starting place for a collection
