    Need Help on K98

I got a call from my father who knows nothing about German militaria. I told me that his cousin has a "Kruat" bolt action rifle that he is looking to sell. From his discription I can tell it is a k98. From his discription the rifle is "Brand New" with the only defacing is the German Soldiers initials carved into the stock. From what I have said:

    1. "Excellent" to Brand New - Condition
    2. Initial carved into the stock
    3. Let's assume it is all amtching.

Can someone give me a rough idea of its worth? Round numbers.

    Thanks,

    Bryan

Bryan, Unfortunately there are many variables involved...Variables involve the code of the rifle, condition of the rifle (original metal finish, original stock finish), and what period of the war the piece comes from.....And lastly, what somebody collecting wants and is willing to pay....IF all matched, definitely a big plus...IF pre-war or early war, these command a premium.....Late war, rarer variants are pretty much the same way also....Does the piece have original sling and cleaning rod?...How distracting is the carving in the stock?..I'd give it a pretty wide range from about $450 to $1500 depending on the variables I've stated.....Bodes
