    P08 magazine pouch

    Hi,

Can anyone confirm that this is a P08 magazine pouch? At least that's what I've been told it might be.

Dated 1935 and with the name Otto Sindel, Berlin. I know this company made leather goods for the Wehrmacht. It's about 7 inches x 4 inches (18 x 10 cm)

    Thanks
    Taff

I don't like the making and I don't like the stamp. I would vote for a non german item with a fake stamp, but just my opinion.

PS: I would say spanish, bulgarian or portuguese making. Can you provide a pic of the pouch open?

          OK, thanks for the responses.
If it is a fake, then what is it? A non German P08 pouch? or something totally different?

Have you tried to fit Luger mags in it? It looks too squarish for a mag.

The magazine pocket issued with the Luger Navy and Artillery was about 6 inches long. That one is too long for a Luger mag, and the cutouts for the mag base look too large for the Luger mag.

Thanks to you both for your additional comments. It still leaves me with the question - what's it for?

                    cheers,

Sold by IMA here in the U.S. as MP28 mag pouches for the 20 round mags. I purchased several of these from IMA, as well as some of the 3 cell version for 30 round magazines. The markings on my pouches appear to be period and raised no suspicions. In fact, on some of my IMA pouches the markings were partially obscured under the belt loops (that appeared to have been reworked many years ago using brads in lieu of the original stitching). I have no reason to doubt the validity of the markings.

Based on the other period items that IMA was offering for sale at the same time, I believe that these pouches are 1930's German commercial production for export (probably to Spain or Portugal).

RIght on Alan. Could be commercial sale for the Dutch contract of the MP28 II also.

That seems to have sorted my question. Many thanks to all contributors
