    Sauer Mod. 38H 3rd Variant

Hey guys. I picked up this piece from a good family friend. His father brought it back when he served in WWII. It's in nice condition and numbers matching throughout. The grips do not appear to be the original grips (as far as I can tell) because every one of these I have seen either has black grips with the Sig Sauer monogram or wooden handles with no monogram. Possibile some sort of factory grip or some sort of custom grip done by the original owner. This is how the gun was brought back by the gentlemans father (who I also knew).

    Thoughts?

Those grips are homemade sometime post war. Nice and accurate repro grips are available from a dealer in the Czech Republic to be found on eBay.

Someone did a very nice job on those grips! If you have documentation or verification those grips came back with the pistol from Europe, why not keep them that way. Part of the pistols history!

Original grips are very fragile and pricy.

I have a fourth generation 38H that also came with wooden grip without any logo, just plain wood. I can also vouch for the Czech repro grips. They fit well and look the part. I kept the wooden grips, but installed the repros.
