    Early MG42 Rear Sight

    hello All
A early first model mg42 rear sight.
    WaA 11 marked.
I have not seen many sights as they are what they are but don't recall seeing one when in open or lifted position there is a pin that protrudes from end.
Any one else seen one like this? Is it a very early one?
    Thanks for looking
    Rob

            Hi rob,

both the ones on my two russian captures have rear sights that when lifted has the pin that protrudes from the end, one is marked waa20, and one is marked a28, the sight ladder are both the later types as both my russian capture mg42 are twins mu dfb for late 1944 production, i have also a late war ending 1944/beginning 1945 production swj pj mg42 that has a later style sight ladder, marked waa20, but the pin on this one does not protrude from the end

              Hello Phil.
Thanks for that. It wasn't something I ever noticed on any other 42.
I wanted a early sight and waa 11 marked specifically for my maget cra 1943 dated B block mg42.
The sight that was fitted was a genuine one but the later version with sight ladder notches on one side only. Looks good fitted.
              Best
