    BYF P38 pistol

    Hello all,

I got this from the son of the Veteran that took it off the German Officer upon surrender. He told his son the German told him at the time he had never even fired it.

Just wanted to share this beauty with you.

great p38 and great photos... That's an early byf43 no letter block.
          In super shape... congrats !

            Nice P 38. Well marked!
Don't see many "no letter block" pistols..
The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

              Hi will!

Can you take pics on the bottom of the cartridges?

              Thanks,
              O.

                  P38;

Actually a nice early 1943 first 9999 block Mauser made 2 tone(browned frame). Nice find. Dirk

                    Nice addition for your collection.
It really seems to be in mint condition, with virtually no holster wear.
But, as far as I can see, folks, it's a BYF 44 (not 43)!

                      Douglas,

Thanks for changing the date, I was just about to do that myself. Still as nice byf 43 pistol.

                        Very nice.
Dunno if you plan to fire it, but I have seen a couple near unfired 44s that developed scratch marks on top of the chamber after only a few rounds from the top strap.
                        Including one of my own.

It's not two toned as in the case of the later byf44's.

Nice pistol William but....the son of the vet? really? he sold his Father's captured P-38? I will never understand people who do this.
                            No holster with it?

Nice pistol. The first pistol I ever fired was the P1 (formerly known as the P38).
