Sauer 38H

I have just obtained a Sauer 38h in 32 cal it has marks I cannot identify on the left slide.No marks on the trigger guard but it has " 17 a turned up crescent and a I " on the slide above the trigger guard with J.P. Sauer & Sohn SUHL cal 7.65 The right side has the eagle N proof marks on the slide and on the frame with the serial # 331XXX no marks on the right side of the trigger guard. I can send a pic if needed Any help would be great

Thanks much New to this site and it does not let me insert a pic. What I have seen on the net so far is because there are no military or police acceptance marks it my be a commercial issue . As noted the right side of the slide has patent and 2 eagle over the N proof marks. It is the 17 and what looks like a sideways C with a I stamped on the left slide that is interesting. Wish I could send a pic.
