My new cyq P38 with neat #

Just bought this from the granddaughter of the GI that brought it home from the war . All matching other than a walther clip . I really like THE SERIAL # !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What year is this ? Not a P38 guy but the serial number and story made it come home . Thanks Dave

Your Spreewerk P-38 was made in March, 1943. Hope this helps.

Jim , Thanks and I assume that is why it is pretty uniformly blue . Saw them four 7's and I almost started slobbering on the poor thing . She found it all amusing-entertaining and I didn't steal it so she was very happy . I just showed her dealers websites with similar ones and that gave her peace of mind on value . Again with them four 7's I just plain wanted it . Odd the things that got one slobbering !!!!!!!! Dave

I had a 1944 cyq very similar to yours not long ago. And I also had a 1936 Ford Tudor touring sedan. That was when I was a Yooper. Small world!

Thanks all and the inside serial is 777a . NOT 7777a but digging in old threads here that seems to be possible . Now to find a proper clip . It was with a US holster . Not the one in the pic . Used that one for a " rig " pic .

I hope you shoot this thing, these are lovely to handle. My halloween pumpkins can attest to that!

Geof , I put a clip through it after cleaning the hard crap out . No pumpkins but it made a couple old chimney bricks smaller . Scrubbed the bore out again after the clip and patches finally come out clean . Looked to have been sleeping for a long time and she didn't remember him shooting it . Very different feel than a Luger . Anywayz this is definitely not pristine so it will get shot . Thanks Dave

good on you. I taught my wife to shoot using my Spreewerk P38. its such a controllable pistol. She had a great experience so now has progressed from being terrified of handguns to being wary of them. Which I am sure you'll agree is the best place to be.

                    Cheers
                    Geof

More pics . Spent some time on the P.38 forums and have found much but it won't let me do anything so I will stagger on here . Grips are hopeful and the locking block is blued but pale with white fitted area . Orv posted in an old post that is possible . Lots of info there and yours truly is pretty green at this game . Lugers have taught me CAUTION so that helps immensely . Anywayz here's more pics and if more are needed please let me know . Yes you should do your homework before jumping off the cliff but it wasn't that expensive and the serial # is right up my alley !!!! Thanks Dave
