    Steyr Luftwaffe Carbine

Please enjoy this Elusive German rifle (The Steyr Luftwaffe Carbine). Based on a prewar Steyr model 29 that was supplied to Columbia.. Over the years I have seen this Rifle designation mis-quoted in many publications, called a 29/40, 29(p), 29(o). The closest would be a 29(o). I have never seen a German manual on this rifle. But some years ago there was a German publication detailing the Luftwaffe Carbine and how Goering Had it put into production only for the Luftwaffe, and the nomenclature was simply 'Luftwaffe Karbine'.. Bill,
Boy, have you got some neat stuff, or what??? I stupidly passed on a Luftwaffe K98 a few years ago, and have been kicking myself ever since. This one is real "special" tho.
BTW, I have emptyed my mailbox, so you can send me a PM now. Sorry for the trouble Sir!!

                  Ronnie

P.S. What is the mark over the "660" on the receiver??
The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

                          Really nice Rifle!
I am just curious, why didn't the Luftwaffe just use the Standard K98?

They did use the standard 98k I have a bcd41 with Luftamt markings in the metal.. The Luftwaffe Karbine was a very short lived (produced) rifle at Goering's request, and who was going to turn him down?..BILL

A few years ago I passed up one of these Karbines because the bore was horrible. Gun was all matching about 90% finish. It looked pretty nice on the outside. Anyway the next day I realized my error and went back. Of course, it was sold. Nice gun Bill
