SMLE safety question

Hello Guys
I have seen this type of safety on 2 Lee Enfield Ww1. Is this official type or not?
This one on picture is on a specimen dated 1916 (desactivated)

Yes and no. The thumb piece and worm gear inside are Great War and pre WW2 vintage but the spring on the outside is later WW2 mfg. the early ones were milled into a figure "8" shape. Same function just more simple and cheap to make the way shown.
No issues, all are correct for the long life of these rifles.

Also, shown rifle seems to be Australian issue. Brass pins and the MA marking on the worm gear give it away.
