    Colt 1911A1 Cut Away

Anybody have any idea of what a Colt 1911A1 cut away/trainer is worth? I never saw one before but I would think they used these at armorer school.

The receiver is either Remington Rand or Ithaca, and the slide is Colt. No way of knowing when or where it was made, but probably post WWII. I know a guy that use to make those before the price of .45's went up.

correct.. the guy who I know who made them lived in Mass.. so it might not be an original cut away... be carefull..

I've only seen one original , which was liberated by the Armorer him self. actually in great over all condition. And not for sale.
but, this one looks good. Would not mind having this in my collection.
doubt I will see another ( original era or "newly made" ).
          thanks for showing ! jeffH.

If you want to supply the donor pistol, there are still craftsmen that will be glad to apply their skills in making a cut-away.

Well ,if I had a donor .... I would have done it myself. I haven't seen a decent " beater " that was affordable to buy.
my cutaways That I've made were rifles only. only made a few.

The donor pistol would be a lot cheaper than paying for the pistol plus someone else to do the cut away when you can do it yourself.
