Still a very nice looking piece despite the pitting on the one side. Nice magazine also, that marking is a harder one to find.

The number on the stock sleeve is different than the one on the receiver....So, it's a mis-match....Also has a reproduction front sight protector, but that's no big deal....Just wondering as to why hand guard is in better shape than the rest...Perhaps it also came from another weapon.....Is it still live?....As stated a nice magazine with it...Bodes

Is the front sight protector the same as a K98 Rifle ?

Front sight protector is a little taller than K98k. Nice rifle.
                    Looking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.

                        MP43 double stamped Magazine

Some time back I picked up a Shoei model MP44 . It came with a set of pouches. I undertook the task of locating 6 mags to fill it. Eventually wound up with 7. The last, and most expensive one,I found turned out to be a double stamped with fxo 37 on the back and MKb42 above MP43 on the front. (Like the one in this post.) Except the double stamp on mine is applied horizontally. Not vertical. Wondering if this was a common practice, with no set regulations, as to how the stamping was to be applied? Vertical or horizontal.

Those are two different variations of magazines. The horizontal marking does not have the" u".

.. most obviously untouched wartime mismatch. I would recommend to leave it as it is; everything else would diminish its value

It is a nice rifle with a rarer magazine, but not untouched. It has a post-war 98k sight protector that's been added, and probably upgraded with a cleaner handguard than the one that it went through the war with.

Is it demilled to EU standards? How are the internals?
