Hi guys, just wanted to spread some more awareness of the Civilian Marksmanship Program. They sell surplus military rifles (now down to M1s and .22s for the most part) that were part of foreign returns and and mostly rearsenaled pieces. I've noticed a lot of people have been lucky with the field and service grades with cartouched stocks, near original wartime rifles with great barrels. I sent them my forms, a sticky note for a WWII receiver. A plus of being military or a retiree is that mostly you need a set of orders and a driver's license and you're golden! Another plus side is that it is sent straight to your doorstep!
Mine just arrived at home today and while not so original, is what you'd expect of a service grade. Replacement wood, post war parts, a throat erosion of 4 and a muzzle wear of 2. Not too shabby, should be a good shooter with a Feb '44 receiver!
Pics to come!
