About 7 or 8 years ago, a large group of unissued wartime P-38 holsters hit the market. There were tables full at the Ohio Gun Collectors Assn, among other shows. I bought a mint gxy 1945 date for $225. These were some really beautiful holsters! The story was the now worn out "stashed in a bunker in Eastern European country." Fast forward to last week. I was checking some items with my blacklight, and the stitching glowed like neon under the light. Has anyone had trouble with these holsters?

I recently purchased a Luftwaffe drop holster for a Browning mod 1922 from eastern europe off of ebay. The stiching glowed like crazy, and the stamped nomenclature under the flap was embossed in white ink. This holster would have fooled no one in hand, however photos can be deceiving! This same vendor was selling these same holsters in groups of 100 or more just afterwards. IMA and SARCO had boatloads of repop high to low quality holsters with WaA's , maker logos and dates etc etc. Alot of nefarious types have been giving these wear and tear with a dose of fake age treatments. These are more easily spotted than you might think...new leather after all smells like new leather.

No, not at all. This holster that you pictured is a good one. I have dealt with this guy and he has some very good stuff. Not to mention some very rare minty holsters. Jeff"Great hunter yes! great fisherman yes! fine figure of a man yes! that is all you need to know" Jeremiah Johnson.
