    1937 Walther Flare Gun

Picked this one up today, pretty nice prewar Walther and nicely marked, are the imperial markings anything out of the ordinary for this? Not really familiar with flare guns.

Fritz, invest a couple of bucks and purchase the book "German Flare Pistols and Signal Ammunition" by Dr. Lorenz Scheit. Dr. Scheit has put together a informative presentation on early to post war German flare pistols, ammo, accessories, etc., etc. The section on ammunition is mind boggling! And the nice thing is that you can easily get 26.5mm flares to shoot.

A year ago I had one flare pistol (1937 Walther) - now I have 21 (including one each of the four types used by the Japanese used in WWII).

          A great hobby.

Thanks Bill, I typicall don't buy flare pistols but this one was offered to me at a VERY reasonable price that I couldn't turn down IMO, I'll have to look for that book just to have on hand in case another floats my way.

There is a new book coming by Wolfgang Kern, probably late this year in 3 languages. English, French and German. It will be part of a series of all flareguns around the world. This first book will definitely cover Germany.

                Many New Photo's, and information.

Glad I came across this thread. This sounds like interesting info the books. I have a"Walther Banner" dtd. 1937 SER: 3625 with the identical markings as well.

Some of the more interesting ammunition for German flare pistols. The large one is an anti-armor round.
