MG Gurttrommelträger

Hi all,

Just thinking...what was the earliest existing year of MG Gurttrommelträger, and was there any early use with MG 34 ? I mean, seen only photos of Gurttrommelträger with MG 42, and only few with MG 34 in late -42 / -43 ?

Hi,
I have seen several Gurttrommeln and Gurttrommelträger made in 1939, 40, 41. With no doubt the Gurttrommeln were used more time and in extend with the MG34 than with the MG42.
Also the MG42 gunners didnt liked use the drum, because of the high firepower who left the 50 shot drum empty in only a few seconds.
