If original then it should be maker/date marked, but I believe even the latest fakes have those markings!

Do you have any pictures of the bolt and feed tray?
    Hey Patty,

Bipod is all original, very late 1944, this type bipod also produced in 1945 last ditch type welded construction, i have two of these types of bipods, a late hec one on my mu dfb MG42,and a late kur 44 marked one on my swj pj mg42, stock is post war austrian early 50s, recently released on to the market, these stocks had come from unused surplus, so not fake or reproduction, but early post war

so everybody has write his opinion and now i want write my opinion too.

this Mg42 is a nice original.the correct number of the receiver is "PJ - MG42 - 6332 c - bnz.it was assembled ca. in november 1944 but the production of this one was earlier.
normally receiver with this constellation (rear tripodmount - short , muzzle area - holes and frontsight area - UU) was produced to the beginning of 1944!!!
when i look in the database so i can see that some early receiver was assembled in the period like (PJ-bnz 6000 c - 7000 c).
i mean it was reblued in postwar.

      - the topcover is an original but the number is postwar.
      - gripstick is a later modified one.the handle cups must be stamped inside "bzh"
      - charging handle possible yugo
      - bipod is an original and the last latewar variant.
      - recoil booster looks also good.
      - curved piece is "ar" is good too.
      - i mean the buttstock is a new production from the Bundesheer (ÖBH) but we need better pics then we can say it sure.
-we need more pics from feed tray, inner parts of the topcover, barrel, bolt and bodenstück (i have forgot the english name, again .)

here postwar buttstocks from the ÖBH.

Yugo modified MG42 will usually have VK stamp on all parts and all parts between MG42 and the Yugo made M53 are interchangeable, starting from barrel up to the last bolt.

Recently Army is Serbia milled some 850 original MG 42 pieces in one inch metal remains!!!
