    bcd4 phosphate K98k

Ive been a lurker here for awhile, never really posted much. Not sure why, but Ill start posting all my stuff. Sharing is important, let others enjoy my stuff as I enjoy seeing theirs.

Just got this today, and blew off grocery shopping before work to take a few pics and fondle it! Haha

All matching 5 digit no letter block bcd4.

Mostly phosphate with a few blued parts spread about.

A late sling with partial ddk44 or dkk44 marking.

Lots of late features: Slab style cocking piece, late serial numbering style(barrel, bolt parts is it), qnw floorplate with odd punch marks.

Solder splash is indicative of late war slackening of standards.

This gun is featured in the Kreigsmodell book. It is my first published rifle.

I own this rifle's twin! Mine is in the 45000 range, and has a milled lower band. Otherwise the same, same condition, basically unused. I don't believe the sling has ever been off the rifle. Any idea of roughly when in 1944 these rifles were made?

"The" book indicates 1945 production began near the 70xxx serial, so the last months of '44 would be about right for production. see Kriegsmodell, by Steves and Karem.

Great rifle! Phosphate 'bcd's are my favorites.

Bob, I have been away from the data on these for a while, but have/have had 'bcd4's in the 80,000+ range. Are you saying they would be '45 produced?

Yes, Bob is saying the first no letter series 0-70k are late 44. November/December likely.
70k-100 and then second no letter series 0-26k are 45 production. They used bcd4 receivers mixed with bcd45 marked receivers.
