I received a call from a fellow a little over an hour away saying he had a pistol for sale that his late uncle brought home from the war. Well, I didn't need any prodding so off I went.
As it turned out, it wasn't a rare luger or minty P-38 or PPK, instead it turned out to be what might be considered extremely common by many collectors, but it absolutely made my whole month.
Alongside the late war Nazi occupation M-1922 in its Belgian holster was the original bringback form or "capture papers" in superb condition. The pistol also came with not one or two but three magazines! Two later war M-22 mags including one in the mag pouch still holding three German rounds (with plenty of green verdigris on them) and for another surprise a CZ-27 magazine that absolutely won't fit the gun but fits the holster pouch just fine.
He also produced a well worn wound badge, and I like to think he might have gotten the badge at the same time he liberated the pistol. But the veteran passed away in 1962 (and the gun obviously hasn't been touched!) so we'll never know.
But I'm one happy collector!
Best wishes,
William
