Hi Bodes,
When did "qve" stop numbering their stocks? Every "qve45" I have seen (so far)has had a numbered stock. I know "ac" stop numbering stocks long before that though. Will check my Weaver book on K43s, to see if he offered any more detail.
Frank, original metal zf4 cans are very rare and very valuable. They can run as high as a scoped K43. The market has been flooded with very nice 95% correct fakes over the last 5 years however. I have not seen an original for sale for quite some time now. Did see two original fiber zf4 scope boxes for sale at the last Max.

Agree on the "ac" stocks. And yes, of all the original zf4 mounts I have had, I only had one original "WaA214" mount. Very tough to find.
I think my biggest problem is that I try to divide my attention between the computer and the "boob tube"....Just can't seem to do that as well as I used to.... Bodes

Willi,
I was at a Gun Show in Germany 2 weeks ago and there were 3 metal scope cans for sale. The prices were between 1000 and 1500€.
I compared these cans with these pictured in the Weaver book and they were (as far as I rercognised) 100% identical. These prices are also the prices for K43's without there scope here in EU. Do you have pictures of the almost correct copies?
Regards,
FRANK

Hey Willi,
The fakes have been out there for about 10 years. They just dropped the quality on them about 6 years ago because they felt they could get away with it.

Frank, unlikely those cans were original....and not for those prices. Photos won't help alone, the fakes are 95% correct. You can't touch original metal zf4 cans for less than $2000 now. And they are exceptionally rare. Shows are filled with so many fakes that most will never see an original now. Tucked deeply away in collections. Weaver's book does provide some good information on both fakes and originals.
Gary, the fakes I am referring to are only about 4 years old. They are made in Vietnam, and were moved into the US from France. I was very heavily involved in indentifying them, with some others. Most were brought in to the US by a guy in Pa, who has now come clean and paid everyone back to the tune of $40,000, and an Australian crook who moved to the US. They also moved alot of high turret and side rail cans in both green and tan. They came first, then came the zf4 cans, and now zf41. The fiber/wooden zf4 cases are another thing. They have been coming in the US since the 80's, and made by a guy in Germany.

That is him James. I too think he has some nerve to show up at shows, trying to be a player in the sniper market. He knows who I am, enough said.
Originally posted by James PurnellI can clearly recall piles of these cans on that Aussie scumbags table just a few years ago at the OGCA shows. He had plenty of nefarious snipers to go with these cans too. I was suprised he had the gall to show his face at last years SOS'sWilli

Hey Willi,
I am familiar with those. I am talking about a batch that showed up about ten years ago at a Knob Creek MG shoot. They too were about 95% correct but I have no idea where they were made.
