K98 Serial Number Font Size Question

Hello All!

I saw a very nice looking byf 44 K98 sell recently online and I was wondering if anyone has seen receiver serial numbers with different fonts like this one and if this is a legitimate rifle. The seller said they are original, however the size looks smaller to me on the second 4 and the first 4 and 9 look like they are overstamps to me. Just curious.

The rifle sold for $1,850, so I hope it is a legitmate rifle for whoever bought it!

FYI, I found out later from some knowledgeable collectors that these fonts were legit and that this is common for '44 byf made 98ks.

I learned something!
